let us bear each other’s weight is a collection of collaborative photographs created by artists Sky Maggiore, Jonathan, and Nick Norman.

The photographs document intimate moments, fluctuating relationships between the artists, and their individual gender transitions over time. While pursuing graduate degrees in Arkansas, the three met at different stages in their respective program years and personal gender journeys at the beginning of a global pandemic. Unbeknownst to them, entering each other’s lives during such a tender time of self discovery was the beginning of creating their own kind of brotherhood.

The artists have learned about themselves through knowing one another, expanding their understandings of queer chosen family. By bringing these vulnerable pieces of a foundational friendship between three transmasculine people together, the work is representative of trans survival, care and perseverance.

The exhibition displays possibility, truth, and love, looking forward into what collective trans futures have the potential to be.
