2025 Student Open Call

Submit ARTWORK November 1st, 2024 - FEBRUARY 1st, 2025.

About The Call

Vulpes Bastille is pleased to invite submissions for our upcoming Group Student Exhibition. We are partnering with local curator Tanith K from Gallery Athanor for this show. This exhibition aims to showcase the diverse talents of student artists, providing opportunity for artistic growth through public display. We welcome submissions from students working in a range of media, highlighting the creative process within the university and college arts community.

This open call is only for students currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in the Greater Kansas City metro area, with a graduation date no earlier than Spring 2025.

Submissions open Friday November 1st, 2024 and close on Saturday February 1st, 2025.

**We recommend that you do not wait to the last minute to submit!**

How To Apply

Artists can submit 1-3 completed artworks for review, along with an artist bio, artist statement, and information about each work.

Artists will be contacted up to 3 weeks AFTER call has closed with exhibition details.

Submissions must be of original, completed work. We will not accept concepts or unfinished pieces. All media is eligible including but not limited to traditional mediums, ceramics, fibers, sculpture, video, animation, photography, et al.

To ensure that we have room for every artist to be shown, please only submit work no larger than 18" in any dimension, and it must be ready for display (wired, mounted, or otherwise). Tanith note: we should probably have size limitations for pieces. Paintings no larger than 18-24 inches and big sculptures/installs are something reasonable - what do y'all think?

There will be TWO information sessions for students to attend:

  • November 13th, 2024 6-7pm and January 21st, 2025 6-7pm

  • Show Dates: Opens on First Friday April 4th and closes on  Friday April 25th (3 weeks) at Vulpes Bastille.

Vulpes Bastille has limited equipment for video artists. We encourage artists to provide their own projectors, monitors, etc for installation.

We encourage that your artwork be listed for sale. The gallery takes a 25% commission while the artist retains 75%. If you do not want to sell your piece, be sure to include that information in your submission.

About Gallery Athanor and curator Tanith K

Gallery Athanor is a private domestic art space and curatorial project in Kansas City that opened in fall 2022. It is cozy and intimate at a whopping ~200 square feet. Tanith K's curatorial style is unconventionally balanced, finding unheard conversations and unique foundations between artists, their art, and viewers. Gallery Athanor has three open calls a year to provide artists with an alternative venue to showcase their works and to give potential collectors a clearer vision of what that art can look like in their own home.
