Blind Faith

‘Blind Faith’ Addresses the feeling of otherness formed by growing up in a strict religious setting as someone whose identity contradicted everything I was raised to believe.

The piece subverts the common imagery of a wolf in sheep’s clothing, by showing the wolf being physically covered by the lamb. In this scenario, the wolf is submissive to the sheep, and the wool is pulled over its eyes in an attempt to assimilate it with the rest of the flock and hide its true nature.

The desire- or craving- is to keep the piece and remain undercover, accepted.

Neither the lamb or wolf are at fault, but things are tense and unnatural. The water around their feet references as particularly bible passage that involves a man praying for God to confirm his belief by soaking the ground around a piece of wool while it remains dry.
